For entrepreneurs, knowledge is power, and the ability to effectively communicate ideas and experiences can make all the difference. Tim Jacobs, founder and president of JWC Publishing, helps people share their stories and insights with the world. His journey is a testament to the transformative impact words can have on a business and his dedication is helping entrepreneurs build their brands through the art of storytelling.

Business Books for Business Owners

Tim Jacobs’s journey into publishing and entrepreneurship began at a young age when he was exposed to the world of words and typing. His mother worked from home, typing labels for companies like Macy’s and JCPenney, and his aunt was also a typist. This early exposure to writing and business laid the foundation for his future endeavors.

Throughout his academic journey, Tim continued to hone his writing skills, taking English courses, journalism, typewriting, and even leading writing groups as their president. His love for writing and storytelling was evident. However, it was in the digital age, with the release of Kindle, that Tim Jacobs saw the potential for authors to reach a global audience. He recognized the incredible opportunity e-books presented.

With a one-page business plan in hand, Tim Jacobs embarked on a journey to marry writers and entrepreneurs to the world of business. He initially faced skepticism, with many questioning his choice to become a writer. However, he saw a unique opportunity to become a ghostwriter, connecting with over 200 writers, and ultimately building a book writing agency that could transform authors’ words into impactful books.

Overcoming Challenges and Finding a Unique Approach

Tim’s journey had its share of obstacles, especially in the early years. He left his job in 2012 with just $5,000 to his name, and like many entrepreneurs, he discovered that there was much he didn’t know about running a business. He faced the difficulty of securing a steady flow of clients, with some investing time and resources into book projects only to not return for future collaborations as they only wanted to do a single book.

What sets Tim Jacobs, his business, and team apart from others in the field is their commitment to the success and autonomy of the authors they work with. Tim emphasizes that ISBNs are registered to the author or their business, and copyright is 100% owned by the author. Their focus is on helping authors gain clients and achieve a return on investment (ROI), rather than just selling copies. This perspective challenges the misconception that being a bestseller automatically translates to substantial financial success.

Tim’s goals for his clients are simple, yet effective: “Produce a great book that benefits your audience and gets you clients.” He follows a thoughtful process with his clients, beginning with a conversation unrelated to their business, discussing their thoughts on writing a book, and then mapping out the book creation process, including the roles of graphic designers, coaches, and ghostwriters. Many of the staff members recommended by Tim are experienced and published authors, ensuring a high level of quality.

Tim Jacobs never dreamed he would be where he is today. His vision for the future includes expanding his publishing efforts to connect and offer more services to his clients, and building a network of knowledge and creativity.
