After a brief hiatus, Alvin Mays, the CEO of AMS Enterprise, has returned in 2023 with a vengeance, continuing his journey with R&B and Hip-Hop artist development and kicking off his Events & Touring Company with shows in New Orleans and artist stage platforms in Austin during SXSW. But that’s not the only thing he’s been up to. His first major project after his return was producing AMS President/Saxophonist G. Fields’ jazz project “In the Moment”. This was a significant departure from his usual focus on R&B and Hip Hop, but Mays was eager to try his hand at something new.
The project was a resounding success, with G. Fields’ album charting at #4 on the jazz charts upon its release on April 15, 2022. The album garnered over 300k streams from its lead single “In The Moment”, and several celebrities showed their support for G. Fields’ work. Some of the celebrities who endorsed the single included Ced the Entertainer, Slim from the group 112, Lalah Hathaway, Anthony Anderson, and many more.
Mays’ involvement in the project was significant, and his guidance helped G. Fields create a stunning album that showcased his talents as a saxophonist and jazz musician. Mays’ willingness to branch out into different genres and take risks is a testament to his dedication to creating unique and engaging music that connects with audiences.
But that’s not all – Mays has also worked with actor Jamal Woolard in the 2020 movie “Turnt”, demonstrating his ability to succeed in various aspects of the R&B and Hip-Hop entertainment industry.
Of course, jazz is just one facet of Mays’ multifaceted career in the music industry. He’s also pushing the envelope with new signings, including R&B artist Mahzi and Mykko Montana, with whom he’s struck a new marketing and media deal. Mays is also continuing to be a part of rising campaigns, booking new talents like Peezy and Gloss up, as well as signing Prince BabySoda to AMS.
With over 25 years of experience in R&B and Hip-Hop music management, Mays has become a force to be reckoned with in the industry. As the CEO of AMS (Artist Management Services), he runs a record label and artist development company that has helped launch the careers of many successful R&B and Hip-Hop artists. But that’s not all – AMS Enterprise has closed major distribution deals and created dreAMS Distribution, an independent distribution platform for R&B and Hip-Hop artists and independent labels.
Mays’ motto is simple: believe in yourself first. And that’s exactly what he’s done throughout his career. He’s used his business knowledge to identify the need for grounding opportunities and platforms for new and rising stars. Working closely with local radio stations in the R&B and Hip-Hop market, he promotes and creates opportunities for new artists to build their awareness using his platforms, relationships, and overall business savvy.
It’s not easy to navigate the R&B and Hip-Hop music industry, but Mays has proven time and time again that he has what it takes to succeed. He’s not just a music mogul – he’s a visionary who is dedicated to helping R&B and Hip-Hop artists achieve their dreams. AMS Enterprise is more than just a record label – it’s a platform for rising R&B and Hip-Hop talent to access opportunities and create success. And with Alvin Mays at the helm, the sky’s the limit for what’s possible. Keep an eye on this industry titan because he’s just getting started.
