Conor McGregor, one of the most recognizable names in combat sports, is stepping into a new chapter — not just as a fighter, but as a man on a mission. The former two-division UFC champion and current part-owner of Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC) says he’s rediscovered his purpose, guided by faith and a renewed competitive fire.
Recently, McGregor has been vocal about returning to the Octagon, hinting at a comeback during next summer’s anticipated UFC event at the White House. At the same time, he’s been spotlighting BKFC as more than a promotion — calling it a “tight-knit family” that’s growing together.
During BKFC 82 in Newark and again at the BKFC 83 press conference in Rome, McGregor spoke openly about his spiritual awakening and how it’s transformed him.
“I am not here just by chance,” McGregor said. “There is a higher power, God, that dictates my journey and all of our journeys, and I live my life by God’s word. Since around the time of the last event, I’ve engaged on a spiritual journey, and I am saved. I’m saved, and I am healed.”
He continued, reflecting on his renewed passion:
“My competitive spark, that was once in my heart, is now a roaring blaze. I envy these men and women up here who are about to entertain and do what they were called to do — as am I called to do it. I’ve had to go inward and reset, and that I’ve done. I’m very, very excited to come back.”
McGregor’s career has been nothing short of legendary — and controversial. From claiming two UFC titles to facing Floyd Mayweather in one of the highest-grossing boxing matches in history, his success has been as headline-grabbing as his setbacks. Legal battles and public controversies often threatened to overshadow his accomplishments, but now, he’s framing those experiences as lessons.
“I would like to leave a legacy that can be looked upon as a lesson,” McGregor explained. “You’ve seen what works, and you’ve seen what doesn’t. Now I’m in a stage where I come back and show again what I’m about.”
After breaking his leg at UFC 264 in a trilogy bout against Dustin Poirier, McGregor’s competitive future seemed uncertain. But as he prepares for a long-awaited return — fueled by faith, discipline, and redemption — fans may soon see a version of “The Notorious” unlike any before.
In his words, the world may indeed be “in for a treat.”
