Disney is set to increase the prices of its streaming platforms, including Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+, starting mid-October. This decision reflects the company’s strategy to push customers towards bundled services for better value.

New Pricing Structure

Starting in mid-October, most plans for Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+ will see a price increase of $1 to $2 per month. The most expensive plans for Hulu, which include live TV, will cost $6 more per month. Specifically, Disney+ basic and premium plans will be priced at $9.99 and $15.99, respectively. Hulu with ads will cost $9.99 per month, while the ad-free version will be $18.99 monthly. ESPN+, featuring ads, will increase to $11.99 per month.

Bundle Offers and Strategic Partnerships

Disney continues to emphasize its bundled services to provide more value to its customers. The existing bundle of Disney+ and Hulu, both with ads, will increase by $1 to $10.99 per month. The ad-free bundle will remain at $19.99 per month. Additionally, Disney has partnered with Warner Bros. Discovery to offer a new bundle that includes Disney+, Hulu, and Max. This bundle will be available for $16.99 with ads and $29.99 commercial-free, offering a 38% savings compared to purchasing the services separately.

To further entice subscribers, Disney is introducing new features and content. Starting September 4, all subscribers will have access to ABC News Live and a playlist featuring preschool content. For premium subscribers, Disney plans to roll out four more curated playlists. “Playlists are the latest example of how we’re providing the best value and experience for our subscribers every time they open Disney+,” said Alisa Bowen, president of the streaming platform.

Financial Outlook

Disney is scheduled to report its fiscal third-quarter earnings before the bell on Wednesday. This financial update will likely provide further insights into the company’s performance and the anticipated impact of the new pricing strategy.
