Elon Musk criticized Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy as “super bigoted against men” following the release of “The Acolyte,” a Disney+ series featuring an all-female witch coven. Musk’s comment, “She’s more deadly than the Death Star!” came in response to a post labeling Kennedy as the “Franchise Killer.”

Kennedy, addressing the challenges of leading major franchises like “Star Wars,” told The New York Times that the “male-dominated” fan base often makes it difficult for women, such as “The Acolyte” director Leslye Headland. She highlighted the personal attacks women face within the franchise.
An X post by The Rabbit Hole criticized Kennedy, stating, “Makes sense — hard to make something fans like when you hate your fanbase,” to which Musk replied, “Kathleen Kennedy is super bigoted against men.”

A Parrot Analytics survey, as reported by Yahoo, showed that “Star Wars” titles have a predominantly male viewership, with “70% or greater” share. Headland is noted as the “first out queer person to create a ‘Star Wars’ property,” according to “Them”.
“The Acolyte,” featuring “lesbian space witches,” has faced criticism for its perceived “woke” content, earning a 13% audience score on “Rotten Tomatoes.” The series stars Amandla Stenberg as Mae and Osha, both roles portraying female offspring mysteriously created by the coven.
Amid criticism, Stenberg released a music video with lyrics addressing white people’s reactions and the appropriation of “woke” culture.
Actress Gina Carano was fired from “The Mandalorian” in 2021 after her social media posts comparing the American political climate to Nazi Germany. She sued Lucasfilm and The Walt Disney Co., alleging wrongful termination and discrimination.
