LOS ANGELES, CA.,-September 27, 2022-Julie Ann Dawson, was raised in the smallest town in the smallest state in the US, North Providence, R.I, and moved out West to Los Angeles six years ago to pursue her dreams as an actor and model. Julie rose to the top 1% of the semi-finals, hoping to become the next Maxim Cover Girl. Julie beat out approximately 35,000 candidates, who were competing for the grand prize to be on the cover of Maxim Magazine, which included a multi-page interview spread, $25,000 cash, and trip to Paris for a photoshoot with famed fashion photographer Gilles Bensimon, whose portfolio includes Beyonce, and Gisele Bündchen.
“Having pursued modeling and acting seriously as a profession for 15 years, nothing has quite brought me to the top of the metaphorical mountain of success to take my career to the next level. I always wanted to apply to the Maxim Cover Girl competition, and my intuition told me that this was the year I should just go for it and apply- it’s the opportunity I’ve been waiting for,” Julie said. “I’m incredibly grateful for all the love & support I’ve received during this process from my friends, family and fans, helping me make it to the top of the semi-finals- it’s an accomplishment in itself and I couldn’t have done it without them!”
So what’s next for Julie? “Now that pilot season is here, I am focusing my time and energy to my acting auditions. So far I’ve had a handful of exciting auditions for leading roles in feature films. My dream role is to play a badass female leading character in a feature film or TV show, that is a positive role model, empowers women, and would get to use my Krav Maga & tactical training skills.”
Julie’s message to others pursuing creative careers is to never give up, even when things get tough. “To support my dreams, I have worked multiple jobs at a time in addition to running my own business. Things have definitely not been easy, and there have been times when I felt burnt out, but I kept pushing forward and what I have found is just beyond your breaking point, there is always something positive that opens up for you- such as a new opportunity, a new connection, etc. Most people have no idea how close they really are to achieving their dreams, and this is why you must never give up.”

As a SAG-AFTRA actress, Julie specializes in acting for films, TV, and commercials, and has been a professional model & on-camera host for 15 years. Using her expertise as a former award-winning professional athlete with wrestling, martial arts, gymnastics, and 10 years of competitive cheerleading, Julie is best known for her work in action and sci-fi action thriller films. Julie has tactical training experience, and is currently training for her Green Belt test in Krav Maga, training under renowned Krav Maga Master, Roy Elghanayan.
Aside from the entertainment business, Julie is a Reiki Master Teacher, Intuitive Healer, with a Mastery in multiple energy healing techniques, and CEO of Chakra To Ya, where she has provided profound healings and spiritual guidance to countless clients since establishing her business in 2016.
Julie graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Rhode Island with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism and Public Relations.
