Interview many of you never knew you needed to see!

What is your name? Do you go by any other name?
My name is Maya Smith I go by Minnie.

Beautiful name! How long have you been in the hairstyling industry?
I have been doing hair for 5 years.

What and/or who inspired you to become a hairstylist?
Most women in my family does hair so I would have to say my grandmother since she started all of us on this wave. I constantly inspired by my mom and aunt who are both hairstylist as well.

You chose entrepreneurship, how has being an entrepreneur changed your life?
Being an entrepreneur changed my life because it gave me the freedom to be as big as I want to and expand myself without the limitations of a company. It changed me by teaching me qualities of patience, and persistence.

If we asked your clients to describe you, what would your clients describe you as?
My clients would describe me as, energetic, unforgettable, and genuine.

What’s one of the best experiences you’ve had being a hairstylist?
One of the best and probably reoccurring experiences that I have ahead and have been being more invited to are huge life shifts such as wedding, baby showers, divorce parties, birthdays all of that. Being apart of a necessity in that process is important and also shows the importance of being a hairstylist. Even tho it’s a small part is one of those parts that everyone will need on their special day.

2023 is approaching, what’s something we can expect from you in the New Year?
Some new things to expect would be products. These products are vegan friendly, smell sooo good, and also does exactly what each product was created to do.

What advice do you have for hairstylist inspired by you that want to follow your lead?
Advice I would give a other stylist is to stay consistent, stay focused, save and learn the business. Learn to expand finances and growing takes time. I would advise them to take the time to learn whatever they want to focus on, take the classes, do the research and stay consistent.
