We recently had the pleasure of interviewing Shannon Cox, a subconscious mind expert and intuitive healer, on the topic of the mindset of healing.
Shannon has helped countless individuals heal their minds and bodies through her unique blend of modalities including hypnotherapy, massage therapy, and intuitive guidance.
When asked about the importance of mindset in the healing process, Shannon emphasized the power of words and thoughts.
1 – Your Thoughts Matter
She explains, “The words we speak and the thoughts we let ourselves believe can either be our enemy or our ally when it comes to healing.”
“Our subconscious mind believes what we tell it, and it will create changes in our body, for better or worse, as we direct. That’s why it’s important to use positive affirmations and powerful language that excites the mind to shape our reality.”
The mind-body connection refers to the idea that our thoughts, emotions, and beliefs can influence our physical health and well-being.
This connection is supported by scientific research, which has shown that positive emotions and attitudes can boost the immune system, while negative emotions such as stress, anxiety, and depression can weaken it. In addition, studies have shown that mindfulness practices such as meditation and deep breathing can reduce inflammation in the body, which is linked to a range of chronic health conditions.
By cultivating a healing mindset and adopting practices that support our mental and emotional well-being, we can help support our body’s natural healing processes and promote overall health.
Shannon also spoke about the importance of creating a healing mantra.
2 – Create Your Healing Mantra
“A mantra is a powerful tool for reprogramming the subconscious mind,” she says. “It’s a statement that you repeat to yourself over and over again until it becomes your truth.”
Shannon shared her own personal mantra that she used to heal herself of Crohn’s disease, which included statements like, “My body loves me,” “My body is working for me all the time,” and “I am healing every day in every way.”
Finally, Shannon discusses the importance of tapping into the mindset of healing.
She adds, “It’s about staying in your own lane and not letting outside influences creep in.”
“This means limiting your exposure to negative media and ideas, saying no to extra responsibilities when in “healing mode”, and planning time for rest and self-care.”
She also emphasized the importance of cultivating a positive attitude and focusing on the present moment.
3 – The Power of Positivity & Presence
Many people may be skeptical of the idea that our thoughts can impact our physical health, especially if they have been conditioned to view health and illness as purely physical phenomena.
Fear can also play a role, as people may be afraid of disappointment or of investing time and energy into something that may not work. Negative self-talk, or the habit of engaging in self-critical or self-defeating thoughts, can also be a significant barrier to adopting a healing mindset.
To overcome these obstacles, it can be helpful to seek out information and resources that support the mind-body connection and to approach the process with an open mind.
Practicing self-compassion and being aware of negative thoughts can also be helpful, as can seeking support from a healthcare provider or therapist who can provide guidance and help to reframe these negative thoughts.
Overall, Shannon’s insights on the mindset of healing serve as a valuable reminder that our thoughts and beliefs have a powerful impact on our health and wellbeing.
By cultivating a positive and empowering mindset, we can tap into our body’s innate ability to heal itself and live our best lives.
