The fashion industry is in crisis, partly because of fast fashion and partly over consumption. Being produced at alarming rates and buying at equally alarming rates, what that creates is a recipe for environmental disaster. How and where clothes are made adds a toxic mix, making the fashion industry 2nd to oil as the most polluting industry. Enter in Dai Moda – a woman-owned, 100% eco fashion forward brand based in Atlanta, Georgia
Dai Moda is an ethical, affordable luxury line that uses fabrics and dyes that are earth-friendly, with a company culture that holds sustainability in the highest regard. Dai, pronounced ‘day’, translates to ‘greatness’ in Japanese and Moda means Fashion in Italian. The Dai Moda Summer 2021 ‘Experience Fiji’ Collection encapsulates the easy wear, comfortable, soft nature of the Dai Moda woman while using a soft take on camo print uniting lavender, greens, black, whites and complimenting textures. The entire collection is created and produced “green” as well as SKAL (control union certification) CERTIFIED for organic cotton production. Beyond the norm of organic cottons, Dai Moda also offers fabrics made from milk, corn, bamboo, soybean and pearl in the collection. All of these fabrics are earth-friendly and/or sustainable to the environment and in most cases, biodegradable.
“Not only are our fabrics eco, but the dyes we use are vegetable based and our company practices are in some way less stressful on our earth. Of course we recycle, but we also carefully monitor our carbon footprint and package and ship our merchandise eco-mindful. As an African- American designer, I am very conscious of our relationship with the environment and mother nature”, states Catina Bryant (Dai Moda, Founder).
Dai Moda is known for its simplistic comfort and chic design. The softest of softest fabrics from the purest bamboo to the most delicate Italian organic cotton denim is what makes the clothes so wearable. From day to evening….it works.
