Distractions are an inevitable part of our everyday lives. We might not notice it at first, but there are instances when our attention diverts from our original tasks to another activity, such as surfing the web, chatting with friends, or watching a movie. There’s nothing wrong with giving in to it sometimes, but if it becomes recurring, then there might be an underlying problem.
All of us could use an extra amount of focus, especially when dealing with mundane tasks. Julio Domenech, a cryptocurrency investor and coach with The Latino Wall Street, believes that being more focused increases a person’s productivity and allows them to reach their goals faster.
If you’re a person who gets distracted most of the time, here are some tips from Julio on how to increase your focus.
Organize Your Schedule
Each day brings in another list of responsibilities we need to fulfill. Sometimes, we get overwhelmed by the number of tasks that we tend to procrastinate and distract ourselves with small activities. There are also some instances where we forget about our duties.
One way to avoid this is by creating an organized to-do list. Start with the most significant chore needed to be accomplished at the shortest amount of time. From there, list the other assignments according to their relevance. But if you’re pressed for time, create a schedule with time stamps to help you stay focused on one goal before moving on to the next.
This step can be a little harder to do because distractions come in different forms. However, start with the most obvious and accessible one: social media.
If you have the discipline to stop yourself from looking at your social media profiles every five minutes, then good for you. But if you’re like most of us who can’t fight the urge, then you can either lock your phone away in the meantime or utilize apps that block social media and streaming sites on your network. It’s a sacrifice worth making.
Take Better Care Of Yourself
Focusing can be hard if you’re not at your best self. Stay active and alert by getting enough sleep and eating properly before engaging in any activity to avoid distractions that can come from a lack of sleep, hunger, headaches, or more.
You can also drink coffee in moderation to give you a sudden boost of energy and creativity. Making a new cup now and then can also give you a break from your tasks, but only if it’s needed.
