Visual storytelling is a powerful medium, permeating entertainment, content creation, and memory preservation. However, those working in videography and photography can feel disconnected, lacking a collective hub to foster inspiration and innovation. Victor Tran, founder JT. Production Management, identified this gap. Alongside partners, he launched FRMEFEST, a pioneering summit set to unite the visual storytelling community.

Slated for July 2025 in Sydney, FRMEFEST aspires to be the premier event for creators seeking education, inspiration, and networking. “The first launch of this event will be in 2025 held in Sydney and we’re expecting probably attendance of over 5,000 people,” said Victor. “It will be a yearly event and a grand vision is to tour this around Australia as well as internationally in the future.”

Connecting Creators for Shared Inspiration

For Victor and partnering founders, FRMEFEST stems from a frustration at the lack of community across the visual storytelling industry. Uniting creators and industry leaders became a driving mission. “Basically, we’re positioning this event as the premier destination for videographers seeking inspiration, education and networking opportunities,” stated Victor.

Alongside business partners with video production and camera retail experience, Victor envisioned a platform to break down barriers between creatives and brands. “We wanted to really create a universal platform where creators have the opportunities to reach new heights in their creative pursuits and industry leaders could showcase their brands and new products while being in the center of where the consumers are gathered during this,” explained Victor.

Grounded in this shared passion, FRMEFEST was born. Victor and partners recognized visual storytelling’s far-reaching impact, from Hollywood to user-generated content. By bringing two isolated sides together, technology can align with creative demands, fostering innovation.

Defining Core Values for Community

With any movement, a compelling ‘why’ is critical. Victor outlined four key values that drive FRMEFEST to resonate with creators. “Values are really important when we’re trying to create communities because people need to actually align themselves to a common cause for them to say “Yes” I want to be in that community,” he said.

Victor highlighted the following four key values for FRMEFEST:

  • Continuously pushing the boundaries of visual storytelling, breaking down barriers between creativity and technology
  • Being open-minded and celebrating diverse perspectives and genres
  • Fostering a lively community where creativity thrives
  • Together having the power to make a dynamic impact on the world

Victor stressed that these values provide the bedrock for community building. “You need to focus on the users first and foremost. People need to see why they need to belong in this forum of people, because if they don’t find the benefits or value in being a part of something, then that’s probably where you don’t have a community.”

Creating an Industry Hub for Australia and Beyond

By uniting creators and industry in one epicenter, Victor believes FRMEFEST can spark an industry movement. “This particular event, and this probably goes back to my first intro, is really building a platform or it’s a premier event for visual storytellers. This is basically the vision of it,” stated Victor.

Australia provides an ideal testing ground, given connections in the camera retail space. But Victor has global ambitions, taking FRMEFEST to Southeast Asia, the US, and UK markets. He wants FRMEFEST and its community to shape visual storytelling worldwide.

Victor acknowledged that this is a long-term vision needing proof of concept. “Australia is probably a good starting point because we’ve got a lot of connections. Our partner, being in the camera industry and retail industry, has a lot of the Australian connections already, which makes it easier for us to make the inaugural event here,” he said.

By focusing on community building, Victor believes FRMEFEST can unite this fragmented industry through shared values and a commitment to fueling visual storytelling innovation globally.
