Bromborough firm celebrates its tenth anniversary with a £75,000 commitment to Claire House Children’s Hospice, extending a relationship that has brought the local charity more than £180,000 from JPL Flavours. The Bromborough firm celebrates its anniversary through a two-day event that paired business programming with fundraising.

The celebration brought together customers, employees, business partners and supporters for a programme combining flavour expertise, technology and trends with fundraising. Four professional and former professional darts players, Jonny Clayton, Joe Cullen, Mark Webster and Adrian Lewis, invited guests to try darts. JPL pledged money for every participant, with each donation determined by the player’s score.

Bromborough Firm Celebrates With a Claire House Donation

By the end of the event, the company had committed £75,000 to Claire House. That brings its total donations to the hospice to more than £180,000, according to the source report. Claire House provides specialist care and support to seriously and terminally ill children and their families across Merseyside, Cheshire and surrounding areas.

The charity has a personal connection for JPL founder Jake Lavelle, who has supported its work for many years. Each year on his birthday, Lavelle also funds the equivalent of a full day of care at the hospice.

Guests at the anniversary event heard from a bereaved father whose family had received support from Claire House. Jessica Ferneyhough, the charity’s Corporate and Major Donor Manager, said the funds would make a real difference to children and families who rely on its services. She thanked JPL for helping Claire House support more than 500 local children and families today, as well as families who may need the charity in the future.

Lewis Croft, a Corporate Fundraiser at Claire House, said it was a privilege to attend with five Claire House dads who use the charity’s services. He said the event brought the dads together to talk. Croft also shared a comment from Mark, one of the dads, who described it as one of the best days of his life.

The donation came as JPL marked a decade in business. Lavelle founded the company in 2016. It develops and manufactures bespoke flavours for food and drink companies, with products used in baked goods, dairy products, sports nutrition and beverages. The privately owned, family-run business supplies some of the United Kingdom’s best-known food and drink brands, the source report says.

In 2025, JPL moved into a 75,000-square-foot manufacturing and innovation facility after an £11 million investment. The Bromborough site includes 16 specialist flavour laboratories, manufacturing technology and facilities where customers can work with the company’s team to develop products.

The company also received two awards at the recent Made in the North West Awards: Investment Project of the Year for its new facility and Manufacturer of the Year (under £25m). Lavelle said JPL intends to keep growing in the Wirral, create opportunities for local people and support its community.

JPL’s anniversary fundraising joins other business led charitable efforts, including Purbeck Insurance Services’ charity support. The company’s growth also sits alongside coverage of an entrepreneur building a business and programmes supporting startup founders.

For JPL, the source report presents the anniversary as both a business milestone and a chance to continue supporting Claire House. Lavelle said the company hopes to build a successful business while making a positive difference to people’s lives.
