Recently added to the highly anticipated line-up of featured authors of the newly returned NoirCon 2022 is controversial poet, author, and playwright Tia Ja’nae. According to sources close to NoirCon, Tia Ja’nae plans to discuss her very public battles with her publisher’s distributor over her debut novel “Ghosts On The Block Never Sleep”, her Pulitzer nomination for the play “Loose Squares”, and do a very candid, uncensored question and answer session on the state of independent literature and satire.
Tia Ja’nae joins the top noir writers, filmmakers, artists, and others will meet virtually October 21st to October 23rd 2022 at the NoirCon 2022 organized by co-founder Lou Boxer. Convening after a partially pandemic enforced cancellation and the death of theater powerhouse and co-founder Deen Kogan, NoirCon 2022 returns to make up for lost time and highlight the best creatives in all things noir.
NoirCon 2022’s theme is reflected in the line-up of speakers, publishers, presenters, and award winners. Among the many featured guests are Walter Mosley, who is the recipient of the 2018 David Goodis Award the organization gives out. Megan Abbott is the 2022 recipient, sharing the honor as well. Other awards are also slated to be given to make up for the last and current winners of the coveted Anne Friedberg Award for Contributions to Noir and its Preservation and the Jay and Deen Kogan Award For Excellence.
This year’s convention is a virtual affair, as co-founder Lou Boxer opted to forego a live convention for international appeal. Convention attendees can choose from a line-up of sessions and presentations that cover latest noir industry trends and best literary practices. NoirCon 2022 will also be giving a personal memorial for co-founder Deen Kogan, who passed away as plans for the last NoirCon were taking place, halting the 2018 symposium. Tia Ja’nae is slated to appear in the more highly regarded panels on Friday and Saturday evening.
