Who would’ve thought that a mobile barbershop would be the ticket to a career in the music industry? For artist Chuckwavy, the opportunity for him to become a music artist presented itself thanks to the mobile barbershop that he founded himself.
Through his creativity, not only has he opened new horizons for himself, but he has also gained a niche clientele who enjoy his talents as a musician and a master barber
The Man Before the Music
Before starting a career in music, the Westbank, New Orleans native built a credible name for himself in the streets, military, and as a master barber. After an honorable discharge from the service, he attended the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in Belton, Texas, and became a member of the legendary Crusaders football team.
With his innovation and passion as a master barber, he designed a mobile barbershop company, the Barbership LLC, a strategically designed Mercedes sprinter van that serviced various businesses and venues like South by Southwest (SXSW) in Central Texas.
The design, coupled with his dynamic marketing approach, enabled Chuckwavy to bring the barbershop, streets, and music all into one.
“I made a song about my mobile barbershop and used it as an advertisement to gain a niche clientele,” he said.
By virtue and relentless hustle, he created his own unique approach to gaining his following. From athletes on the field to veterans across seas, his music seeks to inspire and motivate.
He is set to release his third album titled Yehwavy by January 1, 2021. He describes the project as a way for him to release emotional toxins through music.
Focusing on the Hustle
Like most success stories, Chuckwavy’s time under the spotlight would not have been possible if not for his grit and persistence. And despite the acknowledgments and fulfillments that he has achieved, he remains loyal to the people who helped him get to where he is now.
To those who want to follow in his footsteps, the musician and master barber advises that people should not get caught up in wanting instant gratification. Respecting the process is important to becoming a unique artist with a distinct personality to set yourself apart from others.
“Focus on each step and not the staircase, there is no elevator,” he said.
By using his experiences and skills in every field that he has shown expertise on, Chuckwavy is out and about to bring style and inspiration through his mobile barbershop and music.
